PENYANYI dance pop kelahiran Singapura, Sun Ho, turut memeriahkan acara penghargaan Grammy Awards ke-51 di Staples Center, Los Angeles, pekan lalu. Kehadiran Sun di malam penghargaan tersebut sebagai bagian dari persiapan debut album Inggris pada musim panas di Amerika Seri-kat.

Selain berjalan di red carpet pada malam Grammy, Sun juga diiwawancarai ET News, MTV dan Access Hollywood. "Pada dasarnya mereka sangat menantikan debut saya yang akan datang," ujar Sun. "Saya menantikan untuk berdiri di atas red carpet dan menjadi bagian dari acara ini tahun depan - bukan sebagai tamu, melainkan musisi."

Sun mengenakan blouse pendek lavender dari Celine. Penampilan klasik Asia dengan rambut panjang selama empat tahun telah berubah menjadi potongan pendek. "Penata rambut saya yang baru Frankie Payne," jelas Sun. Payne adalah salah satu penata rambut paling hot di Hollywood yang menjadi langganan banyak klien tenar seperti Brad Pitt, Fergie, Justin Timberlake, Katie Holmes dan the Pussycat Dolls.

"Kita mengambil keputusan yang radikal atas potongan rambut yang baru, karena saya sudah mulai bosan dengan penampilan yang lama. Saya senang dengan mengubah penampilan rambut saya dan Payne menawarkan potongan pendek ketika pertama saya bertemu. Semula saya agak ragu tetapi saya percaya Payne. Saya sangat suka dengan potongan rambut yang baru!"

Jadwal Sun di Grammy antara lain menghadiri Gala Dinner MusiCares 2009, tempat penyanyi Neil Diamond dinobatkan menjadi MusiCares Person of The Year. Sun juga turut hadir dalam Verizon Wireless Partyyang yang hanya dihadiri insan musik pop dan rock tersohor, termasuk pemenang Grammy Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, The Jonas Brothers, Diddy dan Jamie Fox.

Saat ini Sun berlatih setiap hari dengan instruktur dan koreografer; dia juga bekerja keras di studio rekaman dengan produsernya, Danja. "Kami sedang mempersiapkan beberapa lagu yang luar biasa dengan irama yang sangat unik dan saya berharap itu akan langsung memikat para pendengar dan pencinta musik manca negara," ujar Sun.

Direncanakan, Sun juga akan meluncurkan album berbahasa Inggris terbarunya itu di Indonesia pada pertengahan tahun 2009. Sun merasa sangat dekat dengan penggemar musik di Indonesia dan merasa bangga bila pecinta musik Indonesia dapat menikmati lagu-lagu terbarunya. (dr)

Sun back to island state

Home is where the heart is. But to realize the dream of releasing her debut English album, international pop icon Sun Ho had to spend the last one and a half years in America, leaving her family and loved ones in Singapore.

On 17 December, Sun HO finally returned home to enjoy Christmas in the sunny island state!

As early as 3 a.m., anticipation floated in the air as hundred of fans gradually streamed into the arrival hall of Changi Airport Terminal 3. Group of fans also gathered at the premises to design banners and placards to welcome their beloved star.

Her fans even improvised and turned the song <<你的肩膀> into a special homecoming tune.

At 5.26 a.m., SQ37 landed. Sun Fan CLub promptly moved into position. Within minutes, Sun was spotted carrying her son, Dayan. Cheers arose and placards of all colors were waved enthusiastically. Presenting to her the modified lyrics, the overjoyed fans sang heir hearts out.

Staying in Singapore for less than two weeks, Sun will depart on 28 December for yet another long trip in preparation of the upcoming English album. To catch a glimpse of Sun and to bid her bon voyage, you may refer to the details below.

Healing for the soul

Hope was release last month. Together with taiwanese artistes F.I.R band members Real and Faye, Liu Geng Hong and Wing, Sun Ho recorded the Mandarin song "Eternal Blossom"

This deeply moving number depicted love as a flower that would never wither. Living up to her status as the "Mando-pop Queen of soul." Sun's uplifting voice would heal emotional scares and encourage listeners to embrace love.
